Celeron -
A brand name for a line of Intel microprocessors introduced in June, 1998.
Celeron chips are based on the same P6 architecture as the Pentium II
microprocessor, but are designed for low-cost PCs. They run at somewhat lower
clock speeds (266 and 300 MHz) and are not as expandable as Pentium II
microprocessors. (Source: http://webopedia.internet.com) For more information
about the Celeron processor, go to Intel site.

Centrino -
Centrino (also called Centrino Mobile Technology) is a marketing initiative
from Intel for a particular combination of CPU, mainboard chipset and wireless
network interface in the design of a laptop personal computer. The combination
currently consists of a Pentium M processor, the Mobile Intel 915 Express
chipset family or the Intel 855 chipset family, and an Intel PRO/Wireless 2100
(IEEE 802.11b), PRO/Wireless 2200 (IEEE 802.11bg) or PRO/Wireless 2915 (IEEE
802.11abg) network connection.

CD-ROM -
Reads compact disks in the form of audio or CD-ROM. A CD-ROM holds data
(perhaps audio as well). Newer CD-ROM drives will read CD-R (Writable CDs) and
CD-RW (ReWritable CDs). The speed of a CD-ROM drive is not usually very
important except when installing programs, running games that require use of
the CD-ROM drive, or "burning" CDs with a CD-ROM Burner - a CD-ROM drive that
is able to write to special CDs called CD-Rs.

DVD-ROM
- A drive capable of reading DVD
disks. DVD-ROM drives are usually backward-compatible, which means that
they are also capable of reading CD-ROMs and audio CDs.

EN or LAN -
also called 100BASE-T10 provides transmission speeds up to 100 megabits per
second and is typically used for LAN backbone systems, supporting workstations
with 10BASE-T cards. Gigabit Ethernet provides an even higher level of
backbone support at 1000 megabits per second (1 gigabit or 1 billion bits per
second).

GIG or GB -
Gigabyte - A unit of data measurement equal to approximately one billion
bytes. Hard drive manufacturers use an even number as a multiplier. In this
case 1 GB would be 1,000,000,000 Bytes.

HD or Hard Drive
-
A data storage device, usually internal. Hard
disks are faster and hold significantly more data than floppy disks. They
are generally permanent fixtures inside of a computer. The hard disk is a
personal computer's permanent storage space. Is a memory access and
storage device. It differs from 3 1/2 inch and CD-ROM media in its design.
It is built into personal computers, stores large quantities of material
and is relatively fast to access.

FDD or Floppy -
A drive that reads from or writes to separate diskettes which the user
inserts. Information is stored on the diskettes themselves, not on the
drive.

TFT or LCD -
TFT LCDs are a variant of liquid crystal display which use thin-film
transistor technology to improve their image quality. TFT LCDs are one type of
active matrix LCD, though this is usually synonymous with them. They are used
in both flat panel displays and projectors. In computing, TFT monitors are
rapidly displacing competing CRT technology, and are commonly available in
sizes from 15 to 23 inches.

MB or Megabyte
-
A meg is a measure of storage capacity typically
associated with ram, approximately one million Bytes or characters of data or
program space. Imagine each letter of a book taking up one byte.

MHz/GHz -
Megahertz/Gigahertz. Millions of Hertz, Billions of Hertz, respectively.
Cellular, ESMR & PCS systems operate in the 800, 900, & 1900 MHz bands of the
electromagnetic spectrum, respectively. YYireless1.NET operates
(point-to-multipoint) radio base stations using the 2400 MHz (2.4 GHz) band
and utilizes a 45MB/second back haul (point-to-point back-bone) network
operating in the 5.3 and 5.8 GHZ bands.

Modem -
A device you can attach to a personal
computer that enables you to transmit and receive electronic documents as
faxes. A fax modem is like a regular modem except that it is designed to
transmit documents to a fax machine or to another fax modem. Some, but not
all, fax modems do double duty as regular modems. As with regular modems, fax
modems can be either internal or external. Internal fax modems are often
called fax boards.

Pentium
- The Pentium is a widely-used
personal refurbished laptops and computers microprocessor from the Intel Corporation. First offered in
1993, the Pentium quickly replaced Intel's 486 microprocessor as the
microchip-of-choice in manufacturing a personal refurbished laptops and computer. The original Pentium
model includes two processors on one chip that contains 3.1 million
transistors.

Pentium M -
Introduced in March 2003, the Pentium M is an x86 architecture microprocessor
designed and manufactured by Intel. The processor was originally designed for
use in laptop personal computers. It was codenamed "Banias" before its
introduction. The codenames of the Pentium M are all locations in Israel, the
location of the Pentium M design team.

memory which can be used by programs to perform necessary tasks while the
computer is on; an integrated circuit memory chip allows information to be
stored or accessed in any order and all storage locations are equally
accessible.

WIN or Windows -
Microsoft Windows is a range of closed source
proprietary commercial operating environments for personal computers and
servers. The range was first introduced by Microsoft in 1985 and eventually
